Founded in 1986, the Tampa Writers Alliance is an organization dedicated to writers of many genres and levels of experience, as well as any in the Tampa Bay area who have an interest in the literary world. Membership is open to all adults. The public is welcome to attend all general meetings.

Membership Benefits
• Meet and get acquainted with other writers. TWA hosts two member parties a year, providing all members a chance to make new friends and enjoy old ones.
• Educational programs of interest to writers. Each monthly General Meeting offers an opportunity to learn something that may help your writing skills grow.
• Two monthly Writers Critique Group meetings offer members a chance to have their manuscripts evaluated by their peers.
• A monthly Poetry Group meeting allows members to enjoy each other’s poetry.
• Participation in the annual St Petersburg Times Festival of Reading. TWA pays for one or more booths where members can promote, display and sell their books.
• Opportunity to help young writers find their talent by joining others in judging manuscripts for the Hillsborough County Teachers of English annual writing contest.
• Eligibility to enter TWA’s Annual Writers’ Contest.
• Attendance at TWA’s Annual Awards Banquet where our members gather to recognize the winners of the writing contest.
• All members in good standing receive a free copy of TWA’s Wordsmith anthology, containing all the winning contest entries.
• TWA’s monthly “Write Connections” newsletter with information on events, writing contests, programs, conferences, and other news of interest.
