The Tampa Writers Alliance Critique Group meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 7-9 PM in the right rear of the Barnes and Noble bookstore at 11802 North Dale Mabry Highway (next to Piccadilly cafeteria). That's just south of Stall Road. If you see Borders, you're too far north. All genres are welcome. We accept short stories, novel chapters, non-fiction writing...
Al Lucas is our Critique Group coordinator.  Please send your submissions and other appropriate information to him at ALthePhilosopher@aol.com Visitors are welcome to attend but only members' works will be discussed, generally 4-5 pieces per session.
Works to be critiqued are distributed to TWA members who regularly attend the meetings who will, along with Al, give their critiques.

REGULAR MEMBER EVENTS

POETRY WORKSHOP Return to Top
The meetings are held at Barnes and Noble, 11802 Dale Mabry Hwy. N., Tampa, just south of Stall Road, 2nd traffic light south of Fletcher. It starts at 7 p.m. around a table way in the back of the bookstore on the 4th THURSDAY of the month except December.

The Poetry Workshop Coordinator is Warner Conarton, who states:

"Bring your poems or your songs, printed, spoken or recorded. Bring copies if you can so we can read along. We have fun and try to offer lots of encouragement and no tough, unrewarding criticism. We expect the same from you."

For more information, email Warner
at warnerdconarton@netscape.com .

NOVEL PODS  Return to Top

Small clusters of TWA members working on long fiction gather in Novel Pods to give each other more detailed criticism than would be possible in our regular Critique Group meetings. See current Novel Pod schedule below. Novel Pods may be organized both by fiction type and/or by location. They are open to any TWA member until an individual pod decides to close to new members due to size. Coordinating these activities is TWA member Paul R. May, a fulltime writer and stay-at-home dad. Interested TWA members may email him. Also, be sure to check his website at http://www.paulrmay.com/

NOVEL POD UPDATE

As of April 12, 2006, the Tampa Writers Alliance has six active novel pods. For more information, or if you are interested in starting a novel pod in your area, contact Paul R. May at paul@paulrmay.com. The novel pods are sanctioned by the Tampa Writers Alliance.  As such, all who participate must be TWA members in good standing.

Each Novel Pod is limited to just a few writers who are actively creating a novel-length book of fiction. Authors read each other's work-in-progress offering beneficial ideas and positive critiques. Is what you’ve written clear? Is what you’re attempting to convey coming through? A TWA Novel Pod can help you write a better book.
