TWA members showed up in force at the 2018 Royal Palm Literary Awards.
The Florida Writer’s Association publishes a short story collection every year. This year’s edition, Where Does Your Muse Live?, included stories by many TWA members:
- Chet Meisner, Katrina’s Portrait
- Kim Hackett, If I Only Had a Muse
- Bob Becksted, Cleo
- Annette Masters, My Village of Muses
- Amarilys Gacio Rassler, My Muse Lives
TWA members took home a slew of awards as well.
- There Goes the Neighborhood by Sarah Hein Graves took 3rd place in the Unpublished Novella category.
- Love Behind Bars by Kim Hackett won 3rd place in Unpublished Flash Fiction.
- Dogs and Dirt by Janelle Gabay earned 2nd place in Unpublished Young Adult.
- Seis Dedos, Six toes by Amarilys Gacio Rassler won 1st place for Unpublished Short Story.
- Citrus Green by Annette Masters won 1st place in Unpublished Middle Grade Fiction and her story Terra-Cotta Triggers also won 2nd place for Unpublished Flash Fiction.
There is an additional RPLA award for the best book across multiple categories. Once again, this award went home with a TWA member.
- Annette Masters won the Best Children’s Book award with her middle-grade fiction Citrus Green.
