View from the Mountain

The air is thin but pure
As icy gusts chaff my skin
while a mother eagle soars
and eaglets fill her nest.
My parka is strung tight
Against the severe cold
Yet, I will remain
Among the clouds.
So undisturbed and peaceful
This place in limitless space
I see the mountain tops
And that is all I see.
I wish no part of the valley
So much trouble there
As factions fight by day
And anger fills the night.
I can only hope
That what is down below
Will never look up
Then fill the mountains.
